My Buddy By Sue Marrazzo

Today, the weather was very chilly! I wanted to work on my latest painting, and I took it outside. Whenever I paint outside, my "buddy" ( my dog) has to be by my side! What a fun way to paint...all bundled up, with a woman's best friend. This is a mixed media work-in-progress.

Sue Marrazzo Starts An Experimental Mixed Media Painting

I am experimenting with some brand new professional acrylic paints, cutting edge acrylic mediums, Catalyst wedges, Catalyst brushes and more. The photos are the start of a new painting to come on canvas. I've created many textures and layers so far. I was painting outside which was a challenge...since it 30 degrees outside here in PA. It was kinda fun, and I like what is happening with this painting so far!
Take a peek at the background...it is still wet!

EXPERIMENTAL MIXED MEDIA - EN PLEIN AIR - BY ARTIST SUE MARRAZZO

HERE IS MY TAKE ON EXPERIMENTAL PLEIN AIR PAINTING.
EN PLEIN AIR, (FRENCH), IS AN EXPRESSION WHICH MEANS "IN THE OPEN AIR," AND IS PARTICULARLY USED TO DESCRIBE THE ACT OF PAINTING OUTDOORS. IT IS NOT JUST FOR LANDSCAPE ARTISTS. I HAVE DONE THIS KIND OF PAINTING OVER THE YEARS OFTEN. I CREATE ACRYLIC ABSTRACTS, MIXED MEDIA ART, COLLAGES, AND ENCAUSTIC PAINTINGS OUTDOORS. I LOVE THE WARMTH OF THE SUN, THE SOUND OF THE BIRDS, THE COMPANY OF MY DOG, THE SIGHT OF THE TEXTURES AND COLORS. THE BLUE SKY WAS MY INSPIRATION AS YOU CAN SEE IN THESE PHOTOS TODAY.
WHAT A JOY TO PAINT EN PLEIN AIR!

THESE ARE CLOSE-UPS ON A PAINTING THAT I AM CURRENTLY WORKING ON. I AM EXPERIMENTING WITH SOME NEW COLORS AND MIXING MY OWN. THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING OF THE CREATION OF A WORK OF ART.
