Whew! I did it! I created 30 paintings, and finished the challenge. This was a good experience overall. I learned to stick to my theme for the month. I shared my INSPIRATION each day. Thanks for your encouragement, visits to my blog, and even a few poems along the way! Also, thanks to Leslie Saeta for sponsoring this painting challenge. Here is my 30th painting. My INSPIRATION was a poster of a surfer in action. It is hanging in my art studio.
Please take a look...

Here is my 28th painting for the January Challenge. This will be one of my last paintings for this. My INSPIRATION came from my nail polish...It was a light gray color. I matched this color in this painting, and added other colors to compliment this shade. I am showing this work as I painted it, but I flipped the photo and it looked cool that way too! Take a look at #28:
This is my 25th mixed media painting for the January painting challenge. The INSPIRATION for this painting was a piece of fabric. I liked the colors, texture, and shapes. I also used a little of new paint color: violet.
For this mixed media painting, I was INSPIRED by a Jackson Pollock 1950's painting on the cover of a MOMA Art Book. At 1st I was attracted to the color palette in this work. Then I opened the book to the history of his work, and quotes by the artist. I was then also INSPIRED by Jackson Pollock's freedom, loose style, and experimental nature. He was a bold painter, and not afraid of making changes to his work.
Here is my 23rd mixed media painting created using collage papers, acrylic paints, mediums, gels and more. My INSPIRATION was a Black & White Chandelier in a magazine ad. I was also INSPIRED by colors that I used in a previous challenge painting. Take a look...
Here is my 22nd mixed media painting created using acrylic paints, acrylic mediums, and more. The INSPIRATION started with a sunset photo that I took at the beach. I added a new color: pale yellow. Please check out #22:
This is my 21st mixed media painting for the painting challenge. My INSPIRATION was an ad in an interior decorating trade magazine. It was the color, texture and shapes that inspired me. I also added a new color in this painting: Deep Magenta.
This is my 20th mixed media painting for January. My INSPIRATION came from an image of The Golden Gate bridge and the surrounding landscape. The colors, textures and bridge led me to create this new painting:
This is my 18th mixed media painting for the January Challenge. This has many layers of acrylic gels, mediums, acrylic paints, and more. I was INSPIRED by some landscape photos in a nature book that I have in my art studio.
Here is #16 for the painting challenge. It is a mixed media piece that was created with newspaper, acrylic paints, enamel, gesso, acrylic mediums and more. The INSPIRATION for this painting came from a bold printed silk jacket and some new paint colors that I have wanted to use. Here is my 16th painting...
Here is my 14th mixed media painting created using collage papers, ink, acrylic paint, sharpie, enamel paint, acrylic mediums, and more. My INSPIRATION for this painting was a tiered skirt for texture, glitz and color. I also was INSPIRED by 2 new paint colors: orange, and gold. Take a look at my latest work-of-art...
This mixed media painting has 9+ layers in it. I was INSPIRED by some new paint colors: Peacock Blue, and Navy Blue. Also, my INSPIRATION came from a photo of a mosaic. I liked the textures and colors in this photo.
In this photo the paint is still wet. I wanted to share this as soon as I was finished painting this mixed media painting. The INSPIRATION for this painting came from 2 sources, again. The colors were INSPIRED by the colors in a new seed catalog that came in the mail. The 2nd source of INSPIRATION came from an article in a 2013 lifestyle magazine. The photos in this article were warm and glowing..I loved them! So, here is #12 for the painting challenge that I am doing for this month....
This was a very FUN mixed media work to create. The INSPIRATION came from a piece of glazed pottery that I love! Also, my second source of INSPIRATION came from a high-end designer handbag. Take a look at #11...
Here is my 10th painting for the January Challenge. There is a lot going on in this mixed media painting! My INSPIRATION came from 2 places for this painting. The 1st source was an image of an early 1900's dress, and the 2nd source was the fabric in a summer top that I own.
This painting was INSPIRED by a journal page in one of my mixed media art journals. I usually use these to experiment with colors or to demo techniques with my students. This painting has all new paint colors that I received in the mail a few days ago. This is drying, and I need to put a varnish over the painting yet.
This is my painting for DAY #8. It is definitely an experimental mixed media piece. It was created with collage paper, notions, acrylic paints, mediums, and gesso. It has a very ombre look to it...Hence the name, "Ombre Longitude." I am hanging this in a local business this month. Take a look....
